Within Without_encaustic on paper

This series of mixed media paintings explore saying that "If you do not go within, you go without." This has been a call to enlarge my spiritual life and visually explore the dichotomies of inside/outside, within/without, freedom/constraint. Through the combination of written words and layers of drawing and paint, I examine the
tensions and energy of these concepts.
Each painting consists of beeswax, encaustic, ink, and oil stick on paper and measure 4" x 14".
