I have always loved the graphic beauty of sheet music and have returned to it as a foundation for encaustic many times (see below). The wax does magic to paper, giving it a translucence and feeling of history and nostalgia.
These are my recent paintings with oil and cold wax on archival paper. They suggest the environment, both internal and external and the passage of time.
This work is part of my Invocation series. Each piece is made entirely from antique sheet music that is saturated with beeswax and subtle pigmentation. All elements are limited: color, materials, and imagery, to achieve a contemplative and ancient sacred presence.

This is my Legato series of writing on both sides of sheet music. When beeswax is applied to the sheet music, it becomes transparent, creating a dynamic and lyrical play between the musical notations and written word.
In August of 2015 I was privileged to be an artist in residence on Great Cranberry Island, Maine, through the Heliker-LaHotan Foundation. It was an amazing time of artistic immersion and influence from the beautiful surroundings. These monoprints were a direct response to the rocks and sea. mailto:[email protected]
This is a selection of drawings that were in my solo exhibit at the June Fitzpatrick Gallery in Portland, Maine. Through a variety of drawing media, I explore the expressive and emotive power of line in varying degrees of abstraction.

These paintings explore the saying that "If you do not go within, you go without." This has been a call to enlarge my spiritual life and visually explore the dichotomies of inside/outside, within/without, freedom/constraint. Each diptych consists of beeswax, ink, and oil stick on paper.
